Hope

You can always find light

On a long walk, the street lamps
flicker to life as unexpected
as a doorbell or the burst
of headlights on a vacant
country road where fireflies

resurrect the day from the dusk.
Back at home, a candle
struggles alone on the porch.
It almost loses to the wind,
but remains resilient enough

to kindle its being back
into existence proving
in this universe
you can always find light
in the dark.
