In the morning, I taste a strange unease
on bed breath. The white, warm blankets
can’t block the sound of songs
and sunshine that fills the glasses full.

All of it is one phone call, one X-ray,
one blood test, one crosswalk, one bolt
of lightning or phantom pain in my
testicle away from a great equilibrium.
