It is an honor to have a poem published in the November 2022 Issue #7 of Hare’s Paw Literary Journal.

About the poem

I had the idea for this poem as I inventoried a list of stories I could tell that were uniquely mine. What is more unique to someone than the situation of a scar? In the first draft, most of the bones were there. Over the next couple of weeks I did a number of edits to get it into something I felt was compelling enough to make the cut on inclusion in a submission packet.

I submitted Passengers on and off to probably two dozen journals over the last couple of years and it was consistently rejected.

After a rejection from House Mountain Review, they were kind enough to send some feedback on Passengers:

We enjoyed puzzling over the relationship between the speaker and the various figures named in the poem, and in particular, the small (and sometimes large) legacies that our bodies carry with them as we chance and happen to meet other people. If I may provide a bit of specific feedback here, my sense was that the final lines of the poem did not quite do…
