Problems Are Problems
The riches are sleeping so we march
Let’s be militia men with machine guns today,
standing watch at the iron gates —
how we’ve never seen inside the walls.
Our Learjet is the living room,
our streaming services,
white wine in a water glass.
The riches are sleeping so we march
among the quiet stockpiles
of our two-story single families
with sod and solar panels
on a dead-end street
where the numbers only rise up
and to the right, where the sun
only touches three sides of the house.
Let’s not cower today — let’s not choose
the easy path of being alone,
sitting back to back with tilted heads.
Let’s choose to be together.
