Senior yellow daisies huddle
by a window flinching in a
salty rain. Beyond — a stretch of
tan grass holds down the earth hiding

sleeping cicadas. Beetlebung
trees lean south with buckled trunks and
rosy branches. Not far beyond
them, ocean stretches to the tip

of Brazil where beaches fill wide
photos whole. The cedar shingles
start one color, but turn grey in
the storms admired by everyone.
